Nicola Sturgeon has ‘no option’ but independence says expert
Amid Nicola Sturgeon’s intent to hold a second independence referendum next year, the former Labour MP warned there is too much division within the country already. With such “hatred” north of the border at the moment, he also warned there would be “serious trouble ahead” for Scotland if it left the UK. He said: “You can’t split up a country on a 51/49 vote.
“Especially where the geographical division is so enormously graphic.
“And where the hatred burns ever more fiercely.
“That’s a recipe for very serious trouble indeed.”
Ms Sturgeon has increased pressure on Westminster to hold a second independence referendum now the UK has left the EU.

Due to Scotland voting to remain part of the bloc, she has claimed the parameters of the 2014 vote have now changed in response to the Prime Minister’s claims, that Scotland had held a once in a lifetime vote.
If the party performs well at this year’s election, she has claimed she will bring forward a vote on the country’s future before the end of the year.
Although Westminster must sanction a referendum, Ms Sturgeon has revealed they will explore procedures to be able to fulfil the party’s wish.
As a result of Brexit, the SNP has also called for billions of pounds in compensation for departing the EU.

Leading the calls for the compensation, the party’s leader in Westminster, Ian Blackford has demanded the Prime Minister apologise for the damage Brexit will do to Scotland.
They estimated the UK will lose £7billion annually due to customs and exports changes.
The SNP also insisted Scotland will lose six percent in GDP over the next decade.
Mr Blackford said: “It is completely unforgivable that Scotland is being forced to pay such a devastating high price for Boris Johnson’s extreme Tory Brexit deal, with mounting costs, red tape and disruption.

“The Tories must apologise to Scottish businesses and pay compensation to Scotland for the long-term damage they are doing to our economy – costing us billions in lost trade and growth.
“This disastrous Tory Brexit was a completely unnecessary act of economic vandalism, which has been inflicted against Scotland’s will.
“It is now beyond doubt that the only way to protect Scotland’s interests and our place in Europe is to become an independent country.
“People in Scotland have the right to determine our own future, protect our interests, and regain the full benefits of EU membership as an independent country.”
At the turn of the year, Ms Sturgeon said Scotland’s future was in the EU and stated the country will soon return.
Following an independence referendum this year, Ms Sturgeon then intends to take the country back into Europe, although the timeframe remains unclear.
In 2016, 62 percent of Scots voted to Remain in the EU.
