Ms Truss is down to the final two in the Tory leadership contest and has just six weeks to prove to Conservative Party members that she would make a better Prime Minister than rival Rishi Sunak. The Foreign Secretary has earned the backing of former House of Lords member Matt Ridley, who said it should be a “badge of honour” that Ms Truss is despised by Mr Lavrov. Writing in the Telegraph, Lord Ridley said: “Of the remaining two candidates for prime minister, I’ve long admired Rishi Sunak, but it’s Liz Truss who deserves the job. “That the Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov despises her is a badge of honour. “That the posher sort of Conservative wrinkles their nose at her earnestness only encourages me.”

Liz Truss has been praised for earning the ire of Vladimir Putin’s puppet, Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov.
Ms Truss is down to the final two in the Tory leadership contest and has just six weeks to prove to Conservative Party members that she would make a better Prime Minister than rival Rishi Sunak.
