BBC Weather’s Matt Taylor said it is mostly dry weather in the forecast with some sunshine going into next week. Temperatures are expected to be above average but cold starts will as low as -4C. Sunday will continue to be dry and bright with spells of sunshine but there will also be variable amounts of cloud cover and patches of mist will be slow to clear. Monday will be mostly dry with the best of the sunny spells across northern Britain.
Mr Taylor said: “Some gorgeous sunsets last night and there is more to come. The outlook next week is for mostly dry conditions across the UK, there will be some sunshine around.
“Do be warned though, if you’re a keen gardener – don’t be fooled.
“There will be some chilly nights and chilly mornings too.
“This morning we’ve got temperatures as low as -4C in Benson in Oxfordshire.
“Things will warm up a little bit through the day.
“A few mist and fog patches through the west, there is more cloud in Scotland and Shetland this morning, that’s bringing more outbreaks of rain that will gradually clear through.
“The odd isolated shower and more breeze but for most of you it’s going to be a blue sky throughout the day.
“Even though temperatures aren’t as high as we saw the other day, there are still 3C to 4C above average.
“There will be some mist and fog patches tonight with a little bit of rain.”
UK weather: Met Office forecasts sun and mild temperatures
It comes as forecasters are predicting “the first signs of spring” will be felt across much of the UK in the coming days, with some places experiencing weather more like May than February.
Met Office spokesman Oli Claydon said: “A few days of milder temperatures are forecast.
“Through the week we’re into double figures (in Celsius) for many places, including parts of Scotland.
“It will be a noticeable change from what we’ve had in recent weeks.”

The rain is forecast to move down across the UK but is likely to clear by Friday.
More sunshine is predicted for the end of the working week, with sunshine and mild temperatures again reaching up to 15C (59F) across the UK.
Mr Claydon said: “It will feel more like spring, especially in the sunshine.”
The mild weather comes three weeks after fresh snowfall and sub-zero temperatures across much of the UK.
