The “fanciful” rumours that Meghan Markle could run for US president have been sparked yet again after she hired a former aide to Hillary Clinton.

Reports earlier this month suggested the Democratic Party was “buzzing” about rumours Meghan could challenge for the presidency in 2024.

The former Suits actress has been a vocal critic of former POTUS Donald Trump in the past and her odds of reaching the White House have recently been slashed to 66/1 by bookmakers Coral.

Russell Myers, the Daily Mirror’s royal correspondent, has now noted a new strategist for Meghan’s foundation Archewell also has political ties.

Genevieve Roth, who previously worked in Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, was recently hired as a senior strategic advisor.

“Something which is fun to talk about is these Meghan Markle for president rumours,” Russell said on Pod Save the Queen. “They may seem fanciful but so did Donald Trump becoming president.

“She’s definitely aligning herself with some very interesting figures.

“We’ve learnt this week that Archewell is joining forces with a lady called Genevieve Roth, who will serve as a senior strategic advisor.

“The reason this is so interesting is that Genevieve Roth once worked with Hillary Clinton and she is quite the strategic advisor.

“Aligned to the Democrats and could this be a precursor to Meghan’s political ambitions?”

After Coral slashed Meghan’s presidency odds from 100-1, spokesperson John Hill said it “could be Meghan’s turn to reveal her next move” after husband Harry revealed his new job.

"Meghan has hinted at a career in politics in the past so it really wouldn't be a huge surprise if she ran for the White House," he added.

Daily Star has contacted representatives for Meghan Markle for comment.

It comes after an American listener to podcast Pod Save the Queen claimed the popularity for the Sussexes is not as strong as media coverage suggests over the pond.

Kelly O’Keefe claimed people have “seen some holes” in their Oprah Winfrey interview.
