The drills are taking place in the Ivanovo province, northeast of Moscow using over 100 vehicles, including Yars intercontinental ballistic missile launchers. It comes as US President Joe Biden said the US would “move quickly” to send “a significant amount of weaponry” to Ukraine. A senior Biden administration official said weaponry provided would include the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, which Ukraine’s armed forces chief said a month ago was “crucial” to counter Russian missile attacks.

Denmark to vote on joining EU defence policy

Danish voters are heading to the polls this morning to decide whether the country should join the EU’s common defence policy.

Mr Phelan said a relaxing of the rules for seed growers could help but “event that would take a year or two”.

Participating would enable Denmark to take part in joint EU military operations and cooperate on the development and acquisition of military capabilities within the EU framework.

Russia occupies ‘over half’ of Sievierodonetsk- British Ministry of Defence

Russia occupies “over half” of Sievierodonetsk following days of intense fighting, according to the British Defence Ministry. 

In its latest intelligence update, the ministry said Russia’s operations “remain tightly focused” within a section of Luhansk Oblast. 

It added that Russia continued to conduct “long-range missile strikes” against infrastructure in Ukraine.
