Zelenskyy claims Russian officials prepping ‘their society’ for use of nukes

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has claimed that Russian officials are "preparing their society" to brace themselves in the wake of a potential nuclear strike.

Speaking in an interview recently, the Ukrainian president clarified an earlier statement he had made and said that there must be "preventive kicks" against Russian aggression.

Ukrainian forces have recently managed to recapture areas of the country, countering Russian advances in successful operations that saw Vladimir Putin's troops abandon long-held positions.

Annexations of four key areas of Ukraine is said to be a reactionary tactic that sees despot Putin reacting to the recent defeats suffered by his invading troops.

But such defeats could stir warmonger Putin on, who may be preparing to use tactical nuclear warheads in Ukraine, with senior Russian officials suggesting that could be the case.

Speaking on the potential for nuclear war to BBC, Zelenskyy warned that the "dangerous" preparations could already be underway for Russians.

He said: "They begin to prepare their society. That's very dangerous. They are not ready to do it, to use it. But they begin to communicate.

"They don't know whether they'll use or not use it. I think it's dangerous to even speak about it."

In a separate statement delivered through a translator, Zelenskyy said: "What we see is that Russia's people in power like life and thus I think the risk of using nuclear weapons is not that definite as some experts say".

The Ukrainian president believes it may not be as likely as expected "because they understand that there is no turning back after using it, not only the history of their country, but themselves as personalities."

His warning over the possibility over nuclear war comes as United States' president Joe Biden warned of the catastrophic "Armageddon" that was looming over.

The US president compared the tense back and forth to that of the Cuban Missile Crisis and subsequent fears over the Cold War.
